Well-known and deeply respected for his great deeds, the red-and-blue-suited Spider-Man is an idol and hero in New York City. Jeff Talley (Bruce Willis), an ex-LAPD hostage negotiator, has moved to a smaller town with his family due to dramatic hostage situation he was unable to solve properly: a young mother and her child were killed. Now he is a police officer in a quiet town of Bristo Camino, where he serves as a chief of a police. When three delinquent teenagers follow a family home intending to steal their car, they involuntarily pick the wrong house on the wrong day. Panicked, the teenagers take the family hostage, placing Talley in exactly the kind of situation he never wanted to face again. He is about to take situation off his hands, but a house belongs to a corrupt accountant, cops are in over their heads, so Talley should take the situation under his control again in order to save his own family. The point is that the compound has digital information inside, which is time sensitive and invaluable to the mysterious criminals and critical to the enterprise the accountant is connected with. They will stop at nothing to get what belongs to them, and Talley finds himself being between a rock and a hard place. |

A deadly secret buried in a Texas cave is being unleashed, mankind is under the terrific threat. Meanwhile, Mulder collects more and more information confirming his suspicions about the veiled alien activity on Earth and the secret, international cabal of men protecting those mysteries.

Bond also meets Aristotle Kristatos and Milos Colombo (known as "The Dove") and evidence leads that one of them is the Russian's "Contact" but both accuses the other. Melina and Bond sets out to recover the ATAC and not only goes up against the "Contract" but also against Bibi, a young ice-skater, who has a major crush on 007... |

Hancock turns the standard superhero movie inside-out. The titular character, played by Will Smith, can fly, has super strength and is invulnerable. But he's also a sloppy, arrogant alcoholic who causes millions of dollars in property damage whenever he bothers to fight crime. When he saves the life of a PR agent named Ray (Jason Bateman, Arrested Development), Ray decides to improve Hancock's image—starting by having Hancock surrender himself to the authorities and go to prison for his lawless behaviour. The idea is that once he's in prison, the crime rate will go up and people will start realising Hancock might be of value after all. This is only the first act of Hancock though—from there, the film takes several surprising turns that shouldn't be revealed. Hancock isn't a great movie, but it is an extremely entertaining one. The script, which holds together far better than most superhero movies, has a propulsive plot, good dialogue, some compassion for its characters, and even an actual idea or two. The spectacular action at least gestures towards obeying the laws of physics, which actually makes the special effects more vivid. The three leads (Smith, Bateman, and Charlize Theron as Ray's wife, Mary) deftly balance the movie's mixture of comedy, action, and drama. All in all, a smart subversive twist on a genre that all too often takes itself all too seriously. |
