Apprenticed to the China Drama Academy (or "opera school") by his parents at the age of 6, Jackie Chan was rigorously trained in music, dance, and traditional martial arts. A visiting filmmaker offered Chan his first (tiny) role as a stunt player. Chan took the part, and soon left the Opera to pursue the world of film. Fellow Opera students Biao Yuen and Sammo Hung Kam-Bo would also have careers in film, and the three would star in several films together in the following years. Chan's talent and enthusiasm soon saw him taking larger and more important roles, graduating first to stunt coordinator, and then to director.
Following the death of martial arts legend Bruce Lee , the search was on for an actor who could inspire audiences to the same degree; every young martial artist was given a chance. Chan decided that rather than emulating Lee (and thus living forever in his shadow), he would develop his own style of filmmaking. His directorial debut "Shi di chu ma (1980)" was a milestone in martial arts films, being one of the first to effectively combine comedy with action. This set the tone for many of his future films, which combined slapstick humor with high-energy martial arts action. A self-confessed fan of Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd, Chan performs all his own stunts, quite often at his own peril. His later films include outtakes of his on-set injuries run under the closing credits. He is understandably number one on the insurance blacklist.

It happens that the beautiful Princess Pei Pei (Liu) is abducted from the Forbidden City and taken to America by villainous white men. The Emperor of China sends three of his most reliable, bravest and skilful guards to pay a ransom and retrieve his daughter he loves with all his soul. Chon Wang (Jackie Chan), an athletically built yet gawky imperial guard, is not among one of the three. He, however, insists on accompanying the guards and travels to the West to rescue Pei Pei he has affection for. On arrival in Nevada, the train the Imperial Guards are on is attacked by Roy O'Bannon (Owen Wilson) and his well-armed gang. Both Roy and Chon happen to be separated from their groups and reluctantly become companions to find the Princess. Along the way, the unlikely duo plunges into a string of various mishaps and curious incidents. |

After an explosion at the American Embassy, Lee attempts to track down the man who may be responsible, Ricky Tan, a Triad gang leader and the former partner of Lee's father, who was also a cop. Obviously, Carter doesn't appreciate being dragged along like that, but what choice does he have? Lee discovers a power struggle among the Triads between Tan and Hu Li (Zhang Ziyi). They later find out it has something to do with the death of Lee's father, and a counterfeiting scheme. Lee and Carter go back to Cali, and later Las Vegas, where they discover that everything that's happened goes way beyond an explosion at the Embassy. |

He was a thief in 1872 who became the traveling companion and martial arts bodyguard of a man betting that he can circumnavigate the world in a set time. British inventor Phileas Fogg (Steve Coogan), a daring man of science, stated his belief that it's possible for him to travel around the globe in a mere 80 days, as he asserted in a lively discussion with Lord Kelvin (Jim Broadbent), the head of the Royal Academy of Science. During their adventurous trip the pair has various points to stop at, situated in France (Paris, of course!), Turkey, India, China and the United States. Femme fatale Monique and a suspecting detective are also involved in the story. Soon after the pair left London, a major bank was robbed and Phileas and Passportout are considered as the main suspects trying to escape. |
