A Russian scientist in Australia, Dr. Nekhorvich (Rade Serbedzija), who has created a skin-corroding virus called "Chimera" and its antidote called "Bellerophon", goes to the CDC in Atlanta. When renegade IMF agent Sean Ambrose (Dougray Scott) learns about Dr. Nekhrovich's inventions, he is intent on getting them and infecting the whole world in order to acquire the wealth and power by selling the cure. What he expects is that the price of "Bellerophon" will bump up when the public gets to know about the shocking effect of "Chimera". Ambrose kills the scientist but what he gets is only the antidote. It turns out that the prudent Dr. Nechrovich has injected himself with the deadly virus. Ambrose stops at nothing to steal the virus from Biocyte Pharmaceuticals in Sydney otherwise no one will buy the cure. The Government sends IMF agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) on a mission to stop the bloodthirsty terrorist before he manages to execute his perfidious destructive plans. Ethan enlists help of his beloved, seductive adventuress Nyah Nordoff-Hall (Thandie Newton), computer expert Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) and Australian helicopter pilot Billy Biard (John Polson). Based on a novel by Dick King-Smith, author of The Sheep Pig (from which Babe was adapted), the touching and often spectacular The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep ingeniously presumes to explain the truth behind "Nessie," i.e., the Loch Ness Monster. The story, told in present day to a couple of American tourists by a kindly gentleman (Brian Cox) in a pub, begins with a lonely boy, Angus (Alex Etel), pining for his father, who is serving in the Royal Navy during World War II. Angus, along with his sister (Priyanka Xi) and mother (Emily Watson), live on an estate that has been billeted by soldiers in the Scottish Highlands, near Loch Ness. The troop’s commander (David Morissey) has an eye for mom, suspicions about a mysterious handyman, Lewis (Ben Chaplin), who is also a war hero, and an absurd contention that the Highlands are the real frontline in the war against Germany.
Into this intriguing drama comes a completely different element, a fantastical creature of Celtic mythology that befriends Angus and is, in fact, the sea-beast who will eventually be known as the Loch Ness Monster. Trying to hide the dinosaur-like fellow, nicknamed Crusoe, Angus enlists Lewis to transfer it to the lake, where boy and serpent have extraordinary adventures together until human stupidity threatens Crusoe’s existence. A true family film, there is a lot for adults to like about the grownup story in The Water Horse. Meanwhile, the wistful relationship between Angus and Crusoe—each of whom helps the other move past obstacles toward their individual destinies—will leave children feeling both happy and melancholy in the best possible sense. Directed by Jay Russell (My Dog Skip), The Water Horse is the best of a mini-genre of films about or inspired by old Nessie. |

The affecting magical tale centers on Omri (Hal Scardino), a typical kid who is given many good presents for his ninth birthday. It's 5 years after the battle against Gozer. A restraining order has forbidden Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddemore, and Egon Spengler from working as Ghostbusters, and as a result, they've had to find other jobs. Ray owns a book store called "Ray's Occult" and performs at children's birthday parties with Winston, Egon conducts experiments at the institute for advanced theoretical research, Dana Barrett broke up with Peter some time ago before marrying another guy, and Peter now hosts a local TV show called "The World of the Psychic". Dana, who is now the divorced mother of an 8-month-old baby named Oscar, works in the restoration department at the Manhattan Museum of Art. Strange things start happening when Oscar's baby carriage takes off by itself with Oscar in it, and it stops in the middle of 1st Avenue. While Dana's boss, Janosz Poha, is restoring a painting of a 16th-century tyrant named Vigo Von Homburg Deutschendorf, the painting comes to life. Vigo wants to live again by taking over Oscar's body. Vigo takes complete control of Janosz and orders Janosz to get Dana to cooperate. Janosz also has his own agenda. He wants Dana because he's in love with her. When Peter, Ray, and Egon try to help Dana, they are arrested and put on trial for violating the restraining order. When the ghosts of the killer Scoleri Brothers show up at the court room, the judge is forced to remove the restraining order against the guys so they can put the Scoleri Brothers in a ghost trap. After this, Peter, Ray, Egon, and Winston re-open Ghostbusters, and mayor's assistant Jack Hardemeyer tries to slow them down any way he can, because he believes the Ghostbusters are frauds who will hurt the mayor's chances of becoming the governor of New York. The Ghostbusters and their lawyer, Louis Tully, refuse to be stopped by Jack. When Jack has the Ghostbusters put in the Parkview mental hospital, there is an eclipse and Janosz kidnaps Oscar for Vigo. The mayor wants the Ghostbusters on the job, and when the mayor hears that Jack had the Ghostbusters put in the Parkview mental hospital, he fires Jack and has the Ghostbusters released to try to rescue Oscar from Vigo, and Vigo intends to make it as hard as possible for the Ghostbusters. |

Around the World in 80 Days is based on the classic novel by Jules Verne and stars Jackie Chan as Passepartout. He was a thief in 1872 who became the traveling companion and martial arts bodyguard of a man betting that he can circumnavigate the world in a set time. British inventor Phileas Fogg (Steve Coogan), a daring man of science, stated his belief that it's possible for him to travel around the globe in a mere 80 days, as he asserted in a lively discussion with Lord Kelvin (Jim Broadbent), the head of the Royal Academy of Science. During their adventurous trip the pair has various points to stop at, situated in France (Paris, of course!), Turkey, India, China and the United States. Femme fatale Monique and a suspecting detective are also involved in the story.
