A Russian scientist in Australia, Dr. Nekhorvich (Rade Serbedzija), who has created a skin-corroding virus called "Chimera" and its antidote called "Bellerophon", goes to the CDC in Atlanta. When renegade IMF agent Sean Ambrose (Dougray Scott) learns about Dr. Nekhrovich's inventions, he is intent on getting them and infecting the whole world in order to acquire the wealth and power by selling the cure.
