Loosely based on the legend of Saint George and the Dragon, the fantasy movie revolves around George (James Purefoy), a valorous English knight who returns home from the Crusades, wishing to retire from soldering and settle down to a peaceful life to enjoy marital bliss. But when he arrives at King Edgar's (Simon Callow) palace, he finds him in a state of deep grief as his adorable daughter Princess Lunna (Piper Perabo) has recently been kidnapped by a dragon. The king offers George a glut of wealth if he finds the missing girl. The knight, who wants nothing more than a small acre of land and two cows, agrees to embark on a quest to save the princess.
