When men meet Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) in the street, they never follow her with their eyes, except for those situations, when she is armed and pursues a criminal. Gracie is an experienced FBI agent, and the lack of good manners and charm is more than compensated for by her marksmanship and martial arts skills. But her life takes an unexpected twist when she is assigned to go undercover as a contestant in the Miss America pageant in order to prevent one of the most dangerous criminals from bombing the competition. The bumbling Gracie wears neither a dress nor high heels. She doesn't wear make-up either. In her cosmetics bag there is nothing but a pair of handcuffs. American Special Forces arrest Russian General Ivan Radek (Jürgen Prochnow) who has taken over Kazakhstan and set up a dictatorship that has resulted in the death of thousands of people. James Marshall (Harrison Ford), the President of the USA, visits Moscow and makes a speech on the USA's get-tough policy with regard to the dictatorial regime and terrorism. On the flight back to Washington, a group of Russian nationalists disguised as newspaper reporters and led by the Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman) seize the plane and take the passengers hostage. They want the President to release General Radek from prison and threaten to kill the hostages unless their demands are met. Everybody is sure that the President manages to escape from the plane in an emergency capsule. However, Marshall, a combat hero in the Vietnam War, considers it to be his duty to stay on board to rescue the hostages and regain control of the plane. |

Eva Perón eventually becomes "the spiritual leader of the nation" by establishing and running the Ministries of Labor and Health, the charitable Eva Perón Foundation, and the Female Peronist Party. Her untimely death of uterine cancer at the age of 33 shakes the whole world. |

Seriocomic story based on the memoir by Beverly Donofrio, the movie follows a young woman who finds her life radically altered by an event from her teen years. Born in 1950, Beverly grew up bright and ambitious in a working-class neighborhood in Connecticut; her father was a tough but good-hearted cop who listened to his daughter's problems, and her mother was a nervous woman eager to imagine the worst. From an early age, Beverly displays a keen intelligence and an interest in literature, and dreams of going to college in New York and becoming a writer. However, she also develops an early interest in boys, and at 15 finds herself madly in love with a boy from her high school. However, an attempt to get his attention leads to an embarassing incident at a party, and Ray, a sweet but thick-headed 18-year-old, steps forward to defend her. Beverly and Ray end up making out, and after one thing leads to another, Beverly discovers she's pregnant. Telling Ray is only marginally less difficult than informing her parents, and at 16, Beverly is a wife and mother. Against the odds, Beverly is determined to still finish high school and go on to college, but that goal becomes more difficult with time, especially after Beverly's marriage begins to fall apart. Ray tries to do the right thing but has trouble holding a job, and becomes addicted to heroin. |
