Rafe McCawley (Ben Affleck) and Danny Walker (Josh Hartnett) are best friends who grew up like brothers in Tennessee. Now they both are pilots of the U.S. Army Air Corps. When Rafe meets a beautiful and valiant nurse, Evelyn Johnson (Kate Beckinsale), the two fall in love. But before they had time to start a romance, Rafe is forced to join the British Royal Air Force during the Second World War. Meanwhile, Danny and Evelyn are relocated to the naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
