Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) is writing a paper on urban legends when she hears about the Candyman (Tony Todd), who was once an ex-slave-turned-artist name Daniel Robitaille, who had an affair his client's daughter. Robitaille's right hand was sawn off, he was covered in honey, and stung to death by bees. If anyone says the word "Candyman" five times in a mirror, he'll appear behind that person, a bloody hook as a replacement for his hand, and kill him. A series of unsolved murders is happening in the Cabrini Green projects and Helen is using this to help with her paper. The residents say the Candyman is to blame, but Helen doesn't believe it. After an accident in a tunnel, a forensics expert (Denzel Washington) is left as a quadriplegic who is able only to move his head and one finger. Setting his finger to a computer, he is able to manipulate his environment with the help of a loving nurse (Queen Latifah). Even so, fearing seizures that could leave him a vegetable, he plans his "transition" with the help of a hesitational doctor friend. That all changes when he is confronted with clues from a serial killer that obviously are pointed to forensics investigation. The case clearly re-invokes his interest in life. A sharp, young cop's quick thinking saves the first crime scene. Recognizing her talent for forensics, he brings her (Angelina Jolie) unwillingly into forensics detection. Through radio contact, she becomes his eyes and legs on the scene. Michael Rooker also appears as the police captain, who has bungled earlier killings by the serial killer and is more interested in the press than in good police work. Ed O'Neill and Luis Guzman are support staff who aid Washington and run interference with Rooker. |

An Army sergeant (Samual Jackson) takes six of his special troops on a training mission into the rain-soaked Colombian jungles and only two come out alive. When the rescue mission arrives, they see one soldier (Brian Van Holt) killing another and carrying a wounded comrade (Giovanni Ribisi). As the interrogation begins, the soldier refuses to talk to anyone other than another Ranger. The investigating officer (Connie Nielsen) protests, but her commanding officer (Timothy Daly) nonetheless brings in a former Ranger and current DEA agent (John Travolta) to help. The agent is currently on suspension from DEA for allegedly accepting a bribe. From this point on, the plot continues to twist and turn and offers numerous surprises that keeps the story interesting. |

American Special Forces arrest Russian General Ivan Radek (Jürgen Prochnow) who has taken over Kazakhstan and set up a dictatorship that has resulted in the death of thousands of people. James Marshall (Harrison Ford), the President of the USA, visits Moscow and makes a speech on the USA's get-tough policy with regard to the dictatorial regime and terrorism. On the flight back to Washington, a group of Russian nationalists disguised as newspaper reporters and led by the Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman) seize the plane and take the passengers hostage. They want the President to release General Radek from prison and threaten to kill the hostages unless their demands are met. Everybody is sure that the President manages to escape from the plane in an emergency capsule. However, Marshall, a combat hero in the Vietnam War, considers it to be his duty to stay on board to rescue the hostages and regain control of the plane. |

Some Arabs hijack an airliner and demand the release of their leader who is in American custody. They also intend to land in Washington for refueling. At the Pentagon, everyone there advises the National Security Advisor that they should let the plane land and then let the counter terrorist team of Colonel Austin Travis take them out. But David Grant, an intelligence expert believes that this whole thing is a smokescreen. Grant believes that the Arab leader was abducted by his second in command, who is a fanatic. And that he has in his possession a biological weapon that could wipe out Washington and that it's on the plane. Now they have only two choices let them land and hope Grant is wrong or shoot the plane down along with every one onboard. Then Colonel Travis suggests that they use this new plane that the military uses to transport men from onto another aircraft while in flight. With no other option Travis is given the go ahead. He then asks that Grant be allowed to! |
