For New York's most powerful and toughest gangster Paul Vitti (Robert De Niro) killing a man is like having a cup of tea. But the relentless mobster has been having panic attacks recently. He can't sleep at night, feels nervous fairly often and even sheds a tear; every kid evokes tender emotions in him; and killing people is out of the question. He obviously has stress symptoms.
It's so fortunate for him that one day Dr. Ben Sobel's car collides with his car. Realizing he needs professional help, Paul wants the psychiatrist (Billy Crystal) to restore his psychological balance and his lost vitality within two weeks, before a major mobster meeting. Ben surely isn't very enthusiastic about helping him as he himself turns to be a spineless and uncertain man. Who would like to have a mob boss patient who is used to solving problems with a gun and has been tailed by all FBI agents for years? |

Luther Whitney is a professional thief, who only works occasionally. He is planning what is suppose to be his last job, and everything is going smoothly until some come in before he can leave. He hides in a secret room and from behind a one-way mirror sees that it's the wife of the owner of the house he is robbing and another man. They are fooling around when the guy decides to liven things up by striking her, she get away but he corners her, she then grabs a letter opener and is about to stab him when he cries out for help when two men come in and shoot her dead. It seems that the man is Alan Richmond, the President of the United States and the two men are the secret service agents assigned to him. Later, a woman, Gloria Russell, who is his Chief of Staff enters and upon learning of what has happened, decides to cover it up and make it appear that she was killed by a burglar. After sanitizing the room, they are about to leave but they forget the letter opener, Whitney comes out of the room and takes it and makes his getaway but when they returned for the letter opener they discover Whitney and chase him but he gets away. The police investigate the murder and there are so many inconsistencies, which makes the investigator, Seth Frank suspect that something is going on. Frank then discovers that Whitney is a possible suspect but the only thing is that he doesn't believe that Whitney is a killer. Whitney tries to leave town but when he learns just how corrupt and amoral Richmond is he decides to play mind games with him and the others. Richmond, at the same time, tells them that Whitney must be silenced permanently. |

Gavin Banek (Ben Affleck), a successful young attorney, is in a hurry to get to the courthouse. He needs to deliver legal papers that will transfer control of a deceased eccentric rich man's multi-million dollar estate over to his law firm. Doyle Gipson (Samuel L. Jackson), a down-on-his-luck insurance salesman, is also in a rush to a custody hearing to announce that he has got a house loan from the bank so that his ex-wife Valerie (Kim Staunton) and his sons won't move to another country. The two men's cars collide on the expressway at the most inopportune moment. Due to the process of the post-crash discussion Gipson misses his hearing, while Banek arrives at the court in time but discovers a crucial legal file inadvertently dropped at the scene of the accident. As Gipson loses custody of his kids, he decides to ruin the well-groomed attorney's life by refusing to give him back his paper. Thus a fierce and treacherous battle starts between the two desperate men. |

As the critics soundly state, the cast of the movie is brilliant (as well as in the previous one), but the movie itself is more contrived and predictable, and a lot less fun than the original. When the Russian President suddenly dies of a heart attack, the new Russian President is sworn in quickly. American intelligence belives him to be a hard-liner, but young CIA analyst Jack Ryan doesn't think so. While Ryan & his boss, Bill Cabot, are inspecting disarmament at Russian nuclear sites, 3 Russian scientists have mysteriously disappeared. Although the Russians have explanations for their absence, none of them are true. In Austria, a strange man - a neo-fascist - has developed a frightening plan to incite a war between Russia & the U.S., using an unexploded bomb from the deserts of the Middle East. When the 3 Russian scientists are later found dead, Ryan tries to trace their path. By this time, the bomb is on its way to the U.S.A - in a cigarette machine! The bomb is placed in a football stadium where the U.S. President is in attendance. Ryan soon discovers the bomb is in Baltimore and alerts Bill Cabot, who gets the President out of the stadium quickly. Minutes later, the low-yield nuclear bomb explodes, killing several thousands! From Air Force One, the President transmits messages to the Russian President, who denies that the Russians have placed the bomb on U.S. soil. But rogue members of the Russian Air Force are in on the sinister plan, and when an aircraft carrier is attacked and crippled by Russian planes, things quickly go from bad to worse. It is up to Ryan to find out where the bomb came from and get that information to the President before SNAPCOUNT - the order to launch ICBMs at Russia - is completed. |
