This enjoyable, light-hearted thriller revolves around a team of experts who specialize in testing security systems for high powered companies. The team includes veteran CIA operative Donald Crease (Sydney Poitier), expert in sound Erwin Emory (David Strathairn), young expert hacker Carl Arbegast (River Phoenix), and a gadget master named Mother (Dan Aykroyd). The head of the group is Martin Bishop (Robert Redford), an aging computer hacker who has been hiding from the FBI after he pulled off a sophisticated computer-based heist in the 1960s. One day Bishop is blackmailed by the government agents into finding and retrieving a valuable black box, containing a code-breaking device, from the mathematical genius who invented it. Bishop's colleagues naively go on the top secret mission, but soon find themselves reluctantly embroiled in a dark web of deception and betrayal, intrigue and murder. |

In 2057 people are extremely anxious that the Sun is dying, and thus Mankind faces the threat of extinction. In this situation their only plank is the Icarus II spacecraft, the crew of which includes eight valiant male and female astronauts, led by Captain Kaneda (Hiroyuki Sanada). Their mission is to deliver a nuclear device and reignite the dimming star. Deep into the voyage, the crew members receive a muted distress signal from Icarus I that went missing en route toward the Sun seven years earlier. They decide to change course for the lost spaceship, but navigator Trey (Benny Wong) makes a miscalculation that leads to a terrible disaster. Al Lewis and Willy Clark were once a popular vaudeville comedy team called Lewis and Clark, also known as The Sunshine Boys. After forty-three years as a team, they parted company over eleven years prior on not too friendly terms as Willy wanted to continue his career whereas Al wanted to retire. They have not spoken since. Willy's nephew, Ben - a talent agent - has been trying to find acting jobs for his uncle since with little success as Willy's age and declining ability is showing. But a lucrative opportunity comes up when one of the major networks is producing and airing a special on the history of comedy, and want The Sunshine Boys to appear. Ben has to try and convince the comedy team to reunite for just this one gig. Ben has to try and manage the individual quirks and personalities of each of The Sunshine Boys while putting on a good face to the network that there is harmony within The Sunshine Boys comedy team. Ben also has to manage the lives of two men in the twilight of their lives. |
