The mystery thriller tells two stories. Caught up in a nasty rainstorm, ten strangers have to spend the night at an old motel in a godforsaken small town. Among the travellers are parents (Leila Kenzle and John C. McGinley) with a young son (Bret Loehr); a cop (Ray Liotta) transporting a convict (Jake Busey); a limousine driver (John Cusack); a movie star (Rebecca De Mornay); a young couple (Clea DuVall and William Lee Scott); and a call girl (Amanda Peet). Relief in taking shelter is quickly replaced with fear as they realize that they are entrapped. One by one the lodgers begin dying a violent death in a mysterious way; nevertheless, they can’t figure out the cold-blooded and sofisticated murderer. It becomes obvious that their arrival at the motel is no coincidence. Each of the stranded travellers has a sin on his conscience, therefore, it's high time for retribution. eanwhile, elsewhere, at an emergency midnight sitting of the court, Dr. Malick (Alfred Molina) tries to convince Judge Taylor (Holmes Osborne) that Malcolm Rivers (Pruitt Taylor Vince), a serial killer sentenced to death is, in fact, insane and irresponsible for his actions. How can these two events be related? |

In February, 1945, one of the fiercest battles of the Pacific theater of World War II occurs on the tiny island of Iwo Jima. Thousands of Marines attack the stronghold maintained by thousands of Japanese, and the slaughter on both sides is horrific. Early in the battle, an American flag is raised atop the high point, Mount Suribachi, and a photograph of the raising becomes an American cause celebre. As a powerful inspiration to war-sick Americans, the photo becomes a symbol of the Allied cause. The three surviving flag raisers, Rene Gagnon, John Bradley, and Ira Hayes, are whisked back to civilization to help raise funds for the war effort. But the accolades for heroism heaped upon the three men are at odds with their own personal realizations that thousands of real heroes lie dead on Iwo Jima, and that their own contributions to the fight are only symbolic and not deserving of the singling out they are experiencing. Each of the three must come to terms with the honors, exploitation, and grief that they face simply for being in a photograph. |

The Passion of the Christ concerns the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus of Nazareth (Jim Caviezel). The dialogue is spoken in the ancient Aramaic language, along with Latin and Hebrew. His prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane, Judas's betrayal, Pontius Pilate's interrogation, the death on the cross of Golgotha and subsequent resurrection are depicted in this, sometimes brutal, Mel Gibson's screen version of Biblical legend. The faint-hearted should be prepared for the brutal, barbaric beatings that Christ endures. Monica Bellucci, Maia Morgenstern, and Hristo Jivkov are engaged as Magdalene, Maria, and John respectively, who are distressed by Jesus' fate yet aware that they can do nothing to change it. |

This screen interpretation of vampire literature classic is the most well-known and, more to say, brilliant one. Set in London, this spectacular picture closely follows the book, but is even more dramatic. This eye-catching movie tells about Johnathan (Keanu Reeves) and Mina (Wynona Ryder), young pair which soon will face the ancient vampire - count Dracula (Gary Oldmen). When John heads to Transylvania for the business travel, he has to communicate with the famous Count and the monster accidentally sees John's medallion with the picture of Mina. This film is not simply an eye-candy due to its exquisite visual aesthetics, but it is also a profound story, which tells what it takes to be an immortal monster... and to love forever, hopelessly. |

In lower Washington State in December 1981, John Rambo, a Medal of Honor-winning former Green Beret, finds that he is the last surviving member of his unit. Disconsolate after finding out the death of his last remaining comrade, he wanders into the nearby town of Hope, WA, where local sheriff Wilfred Teasle gives him a lift - straight out of town; Teasle explains in no uncertain terms that "drifters" like Rambo are not welcome in town. Insulted by Teasle's action, Rambo boldly returns to town and is falsely arrested for vagrancy and resisting arrest. His treatment at the hands of Teasle's deputies grows even harsher, as he is beaten and sprayed with a firehose. When the deputies try to force-shave him, Rambo (briefly flashing back to memories of Communist torture in a prison camp) goes berserk and breaks free; he commandeers a motorcycle and flees into the nearby hills. As the sheriff's posse purses, one belligerent deputy violates orders and tries to kill Rambo - and in the process an accident leaves the deputy dead. Misunderstandings pile up and Teasle shoots Rambo, but Rambo survives and when the posse press their pursuit, Rambo uses his well-honed survival and combat skills to cripple the posse and leave Teasle with a warning to leave him alone - a warning repeated by Rambo's recently arrived former commander, who understands how outclassed Teasle and newly arrived National Guardsmen are against Rambo in the thick forest. Teasle, however, wants Rambo dead, and the pursuit leads to a bloody confrontation and a final plea for and end to the violence. |
