At first the cold Creasy can hardly tolerate the precocious kid but Pita gradually warms up his heart toward her and they become friends. Notwithstanding the title, this movie contains less of sensuality then you might think. This film is about a retired, depressive and unfriendly colonel, who had lost his sight and thinks that life has no sense anymore. He wants to take the last breath of life - to meet and talk with his brother, then to put up at a hotel, to sleep over with a beautiful woman - and then to commit suicide. This film clearly shows us, how important is to take trouble about a lonely, depressed person: such sympathy and compassion can save him from death. A young lad (Chris O'Donnell) hires to look after the seek, infirm people; this fellow tries to hearten the colonel, to find the words which could return the hope and optimism to the retired blind man. One should remember, that the best things any man can ever have are compassion, hope and friendship. One of the most succesful roles of Al Pacino. |

Based on a story by Daphne Du Maurier, this bone-chilling horror movie revolves around English architect John Baxter (Donald Sutherland) and his wife Laura (Julie Christie) who, after the tragic death of their young daughter, try to get their minds off their grief by changing environment. The mourning couple head for Venice, Italy where John has been contracted to oversee the architectural restoration of an ancient church. In Venice, they encounter two eccentric elderly sisters, one of whom is blind and claims to be psychic. Heather (Hilary Mason) insists that she is able to come into contact with their daughter's spirit. Baxter remains skeptical until he begins having visions of a mysterious young girl in a red cloak identical with his daughter's, as well as his wife and the sisters on a funeral gondola. Unfortunately, John realizes too late that the disturbing visions were premonitions of impending danger to him. |

One of the most successful roles of Johnny Depp is William Blake, a young accountant who arrived at the distant town to work at the doubtful manufacture having a one way ticket. At the very first evening he gets into a very disagreeable, Wild-West-style story, and now he has to go into hiding, being hunted down by three cutthroats who have the only purpose - to kill him and then to deliver to the powerful manufacture owner. Being on the run, he suddenly meets the strange Indian who call himself Nobody and offers William his help. This rather surrealistic, black-and-white metaphoric movie is very stylish and intricate at some points, but a severely DEPPressive one as the theme of the last journey of any human seems to be one of the main counterpoints of the picture. Also starring are Iggy Pop, Crispin Glover, Billy Bob Thornton and Lance Henricksen.

The story and screenplay of this successful movie was written by famed singer-songwriter Nick Cave. In the press notes he says that he set out to write "a cohesive but mythical story that moved forward and was simple and affecting, as well as highly emotionally charged". This fine-tuned allegory relates to the cyclical bloodshed and is brutally violent, but its message is also brutally honest and meditative. The renegade Murphy brothers are in conflict with the controversial law enforcer (Ray Winstone). When two of the brothers are captured by authorities, the older (Guy Pearce) is given by a no-win choice: hunt and kill the lunatic Murphy Gang mastermind, his eldest brother Arthur (Danny Huston), otherwise the youngest (Richard Wilson) gets a hemp-tie on the gallows. This western reeks of the dry desert, with flies buzzing, temperatures soaring, and emotions spiraling out of control in the dusty, desolate and virtually lawless air of 1880s of the rural Australia. |
