Marion Crane works at a Real Estate Office in Arizona. She has a sister named Lila and a boyfriend named Sam. She wants to marry Sam, but the two do not have enough money, since Sam is still paying off his ex-wife's alimony, and she has a small job at Lowery's office. One Friday, December the eleventh, Mr. Cassidy, a rich oil tycoon, comes to the office to give Lowery $40,000 to buy a house for his daughter's wedding present. Lowery asks Marion to deposit the cash and she said she would. Instead, she packs up and heads for Fairvale to see Sam, with the money in her purse. She ends up at the Bates Motel where she meets Norman Bates, a troubled young man who seems to be obsessed with his Mother. A novelist - Jack Torrance take a job interview as winter caretaker of the isolated, old, huge and beautiful Overlook Hotel. In the interview, Jack is told by the manager himself, that the previous caretaker - Grady, chopped his family and later killed himself with a shotgun. Ignoring the story, Jack brings his wife - Wendy and his son Danny. It happens that Danny, has a mysterious power known as "The Shining" that shows him things from the past and future. Some of the visions come from Tony - "the little boy who lives in Danny's mouth". Danny meets Hallorann - the hotel cook in their first day arriving at the Overlook, who also has this "Shining" and he warns him about the hotel and the sinister Room 237. As the days go by, Danny has visions of previous guests and employees who died at the hotel years before, meanwhile Jack starts driving into insanity, turning more and more aggressive, at the point that Danny and Wendy gets convinced that Jack might try to do the same thing, Grady did. |

It's 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston's Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. While returning from a deep-space mission, the crew of the commercial spaceship Nostromo is awakened by a supposed SOS call from a system they are passing through. Descending to the planet's surface, they discover a strange derelict spaceship - the apparent source of the transmission - and one of the crew descends into the hold. "The Prisoner" tells the story of a popular Hollywood TV actor named Gary (Ryan Reynolds) who becomes distraught after being dumped by his girlfriend. To cope with the sharp pain of the breakup, he drinks and uses crack cocaine, then decides to burn her belongings but uses too much lighter fluid and burns down his house. After his escapade Gary ends up living under home arrest and the supervision of a cheery, serious publicist, Margaret (Melissa McCarthy), who moves him into the empty house of a television writer. He befriends an attractive next-door neighbor, Sarah (Hope Davis), and mysteriously becomes haunted by the number nine.
"Reality Television" focuses on Gavin (Ryan Reynolds), the house's owner who is away in Canada. He is shooting a supernatural network television drama starring his best friend Melissa McCarthy. When the network boss and studio executive Susan (Hope Davis) decide to replace Melissa with another actress, Gavin must tell her bad news.
"Knowing" finds a videogame designer, Gabriel (Ryan Reynolds), facing car trouble on an outing in the Hollywood Hills. Leaving his wife Mary (Melissa McCarthy) and child (Elle Fanning) in the car, he goes to seek help and encounters Sierra (Hope Davis), a strangely wary woman.

A movie actress taking up temporary residence in Washington D.C. has her troubles. The script for the movie she's filming seems inadequate.
