Based on a true story, the horror drama revolves around Emily Rose (Jennifer Carpenter), a 19-year-old ordinary college freshman who begins to feel as though someone else has inhabited her body. The student becomes tormented by terrifying visions and ghostly voices. She can't separate the reality from the nightmare. Doctors give her a diagnosis of a strange mental disease but are unable to cure her. So Emily desperately seeks help from her parish priest, Father Moore (Tom Wilkinson).
