Plot Summary:
At the beginning of World War II, Heinrich Harrer (Brad Pitt), a famous Austrian mountaineer, and his friend Peter Aufschnaiter (David Thewlis) go to Tibet to climb one of the highest picks of the Himalayas. But they are captured by the Allied forces in the mountains and put into a prisoner-of-war camp. After the escape, they reach the Forbidden City where only a few Western people have been before. Young Dalai Lama (Jamyang Jamtsho Wangchuk), a Buddhist spiritual leader, gets quite curious about the strangers.
