Sylvia Broome (Nicole Kidman) is an interpreter. She is an expert in the obscure language of Ku, a dialect of the African Matobo, her homeland. Unintentionally she overhears a talk on Ku, where the deadly plot against the country ruler was mentioned. The life of Zuwanie (Earl Cameron), Matobo's controversial ruler, is under the treat, so as Sylvia's life. Realizing she's become a target of the assassins as well, Silvia is desperate to thwart the plot... if only she can survive long enough to get someone to believe her. Secret Service agent Tobin Keller (Sean Penn) is brought in to investigate Broome's story, and it isn't long before he's convinced that she knows more than she's willing to tell. Keller has his doubts. Is Silvia a witness or is she somehow connected to the threat against the African head of state? "The Interpreter" is a cat and mouse game with a few of the involved parties appearing to change sides throughout the process. Sometimes you should pay close attention in order to keep up with the plot (you can miss a key detail being away for a tea watching this film). |

The solitary Jake helps other lonely veterans that live in the forest giving them part of his supplies and receiving wood in return. When Jake is visited by the former private of his platoon Henry R. Hocknell, who has lung cancer, Henry asks him to raise his Vietnamese daughter Lenny Hocknell. The widow Henry has no family and he will be subjected to a severe treatment of cancer. The reluctant Jake says no, but Henry leaves his daughter and vanishes. Along his contact with the young girl, Jake improves his behavior until a tragedy happens. |

Samantha Goodman (Kate Greenhouse) is an attractive thirty-something woman who is married to a writer, Dave Goodman (Gordon Currie), and works as a psychiatrist at an institution for the criminal insane. It knocks Sam back on her heels when she notices that there is something in the nature of an incipient love affair between Dave and Melody. To make matters worse, Sam's weekend is ruined by an invited guest who turns out to be her former patient, Harlan Pyne (Aidan Devine), a violent sexual offender. Convinced that he has been unethically experimented on, Harlan takes revenge by compelling the family to participate in his diabolic game that is a sort of psychological and physical tortures.

In 1999, Ben Mitchell (Nathan Phillips) and his two British girlfriends Liz Hunter (Cassandra Magrath) and Kristy Earl (Kestie Morassi) buy an old car to travel through the outback of Australia with little money. Their first stop is to visit a meteor crater in the isolated Wolf Creek National Park. When they go to their car, they find that it does not start and without option, they decide to spend the night in the car. Later, a local friendly man, the hillbilly Mick Taylor (John Jarrat), stops his truck, offers to help the trio, finds that they need to replace the coil and proposes to tow them to his camp, where he could fix the car.
